TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is by far the most popular standardized English language test in the world. More than 6,000 schools in over 100 countries accept the TOEFL score as a portion of their admittance requirements.

Litz provide TOEFL course that will guide and teach students on reading, listening, oral and written, with the aim to help students understand the characteristics of TOEFL and grasp the technique for the test.

TOEFL will test you in the following areas: 

  1. Reading in English
  2. Writing in English
  3. Listening to English
  4. Speaking in English (Internet Based Test iBT only)

TOEFL IBT consists of 4 sections:

Reading

•Time Limit: 60-80 minutes

•Content: 3 or 4 passages to read and answer

•Questions: 36-56 questions from the passages

Listening

•Time Limit: 60-90 minutes

•Content: Lectures, classroom discussions, conversations

•Questions: 34-51 questions from the dialogues

Speaking

•Time Limit: 20 minutes

•Content: Expressing opinions, speaking based on reading or listening tasks 

•Questions: 6 questions

Writing

•Time Limit: 50 minutes

•Content: Writing based on reading or listening tasks, supporting opinions

•Questions: 2 questions 

Approximate test duration

4.5 hours (including check-in and break)

Total Score

120 (30 for each section)

Note: TOEFL is not the same as the TOEIC (Test of English for International Communitcation). TOEIC is used to gauge a person’s readiness for a working environment, whereas the TOEFL is used predominantly as an entrance exam for college.
