Phillips Academy, better known as Andover, is a coeducational independent boarding high school of 1,105 students, known for its extensive and rigorous academic program.

The school was founded by Samuel Phillips Jr. in 1778 as a Yale feeder school (Phillips’ uncle founded Phillips Exeter, and the two prep schools remain rivals), an account in Time Magazine in 1931 described the two schools as having "flourished", and that both schools were "twin giants of prep schools in size and in prestige" essentially feeder schools for Ivy League universities such as Harvard and Yale, according to Joseph Lieberman.

Nowadays, Phillips Academy Andover (also known as Phillips Andover, Andover, Phillips Academy, or PA) is a school for boarding and day students in grades 9–12, along with a post-graduate (PG) year. The school is located in Andover, Massachusetts, United States, 25 miles north of Boston, with its classic New England atmosphere, in scenery and spirit, Andover is a town that will forever hold a special place in its residents’ hearts.
