Alfred University

University of California–Berkeley

“Alfred University is a wonderful place for studying when you first studied in the United States. It is a small place full of friendly people who are willing to help. The small class size and helpful professors are the keys to students’ academic success.

The reason why I chose Alfred University three years ago was that it is a small school far away from urban life. I’ve lived in Hong Kong for 16 years, I told myself that I should try something different. Living in Alfred was a very good experience, people in small towns are really friendly. It helped me a lot adapt to American culture.

The professors there are super helpful. Visiting their office hours helps to study a lot. They don’t mind if you have a whole bunch of questions. After studying at U.C. Berkeley for a semester, I really miss the lovely professors in Alfred. In Berkeley, there are usually over a hundred students in lectures; and it is very normal to see up to twenty students packing in office hours. So you have to wait for a long time in order to ask a question.

Since Alfred is a small university, it is very easy to make friends and see each other every day. Most students there get involved in a few extracurricular activities. You can even start your own clubs, produce a concert or act in a play. Off-campus recreation and sightseeing are organized regularly. This includes museums and galleries, state parks, Niagara Falls, etc.

In conclusion, I never regretted studying in Alfred University. It is one of the happiest moments in my life. I still keep in touch with many of my friends and professors. They definitely brighten up my life. I shall always treasure the great moments in Alfred, and this will definitely be a part of my good memories for years to come.”
