Student visa F-1/J-1

Although many individuals hold US B-1/B-2 tourist visas, students still need to apply for an F-1 student visa or a J-1 exchange student visa to study in the US. The application fee for a US student F-1/J-1 visa in Hong Kong is USD$160 (~HKD$1280). In addition to the visa fee, all international students must also pay an additional SEVIS fee of USD$350 (~HKD$2800). Students must first be accepted by a university and hold an I-20 acceptance letter before applying for a student visa. Furthermore, students may only apply for a student visa 120 days prior to the earliest possible entry date listed on the I-20. To apply for a student visa, students must demonstrate sufficient funds to complete their studies and have no intention of immigrating to the US.
